Back-to-School Project

Recognizing that the cost of school supplies is prohibitive for some families, this annual project ensures that students who attend Walkersville Schools and Walkersville Feeder Schools start the school year off right with needed school supplies.

The project relies on the generosity of the local community (churches, organizations, businesses and residents) to donate the needed supplies.  GVCS provides funding for the purchase of supplies, where needed, should community donations fall short.

2017-2018 School Year Distribution

School supplies distribution for the 2017-2018 school year took place Sunday, August 20th, at the Glade Valley Food Bank.  Distribution hours were from 11:00am to 3:00pm.  Doors opened promptly at 11:00am.  At the close of  distribution, 167 students from 75 families attending the Walkersville and Walkersville feeder schools received school supplies.  Supplies were also provided to 13 students of the 75 families attending special schools outside of the Walkersville school district.  Remaining school supplies were distributed to the Walkersville and Walkersville feeder schools.
