GVCS 2020 Back-To-School Project
Due to the COVID-19 situation, and the uncertainty regarding if/when and under what conditions Frederick County Schools will re-open for the 2020-2021 school year, GVCS WILL NOT be distributing school supplies to individual students in mid-August as we have done in previous years.
Instead, GVCS will make a monetary contribution to the Walkersville and Walkersville Feeder Schools for their use in purchasing school supplies as dictated by conditions when Frederick County Schools re-open for the 2020-2021 School Year. Students needing assistance with school supplies should see their school guidance counselor when school resumes.
GVCS WILL BE conducting its local community school supplies drive during July and early August.
The following is a recommended list of requested items:
Backpacks Safety scissors Pencils(#2) Ballpoint Pens
Colored Pencils Highliters Crayons (16 & 24 count)
Dry erase markers (low odor) Zippered Pencil Pouches
Loose Leaf Paper (wide & college ruled) Folders with brads (assorted colors)
Composition notebooks (wide ruled) Glue sticks (fat & regular size)
Spiral notebooks (Single & multi-subject, wide and college ruled)
Donated supplies can be dropped off at the Glade Valley Food Bank/Town Hall rear entrance Saturday August 8th, 10am-Noon and Sunday August 9th, 10am-Noon.

It was estimated that between the monetary donations and the school supplies drive approximately 250 students received assistance.
