About the Back to School Project
The Back-to-School project is a program sponsored by GVCS. This is a community-wide effort to ensure that students start the school year off right with needed school supplies, as the cost of these supplies is prohibitive for some families.
The project depends on the generosity of local churches, organizations, businesses, Stuff the Bus, and residents to provide the necessary school supplies. GVCS provides funding for the purchase of supplies, where needed, should community donations fall short.
In addition, to the above direct assistance, school supplies were also distributed to the Walkersville schools and Walkersville feeder schools for use by the guidance counselors to assist other students in need of supplies.
Contributions and Requests
The following is a recommended list of requested items:
- #2 Pencils
- Colored Pencils
- Crayons
- Black & Blue Pens
- Glue Sticks
- Safety Scissors
- Highlighters
- 2-Pocket Folders
- 2-Pocket Folders with Brads
- Composition Books – Wide Ruled Only
- Spiral Notebooks – Wide Ruled Only
Need Assistance?
Families in need of assistance with School Supplies?
Stuff the Bus will be sending backpacks to Walkersville High, Walkersville Middle and Walkersville Elementary Schools in early August. Boxes of collected school supplies from the Walkersville Community will be delivered to all schools in the Walkersville Feeder on August 7, 2026.
Families can reach out to their child’s school to request assistance with school supplies beginning the week of August 10, 2026.
Request for School Supply donations for the 2026 GVCS Back to School Project!
GVCS will be collecting school supplies from the Walkersville Community. All supplies collected will be boxed up and given to each of the schools in the Walkersville Feeder to be distributed to students in need.
School supplies can be donated on August 7, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the Walkersville Library, 2 South Glade Rd, Walkersville.
